Watch Care Guide

Proper care and regular maintenance help preserve the beauty, performance and lifespan of your timepiece.

Keeping Your Watch at Its Best

Different watches, movements and strap materials require specific attention to keep them looking and functioning at their best. With proper care, your timepiece can remain accurate, stylish and reliable for many years.

Caring for Different Watch Movements

Quartz Watches

Quartz watches are battery-powered and known for their accuracy and low maintenance. Replace the battery as soon as it begins losing power to prevent possible leakage and internal damage. Regular battery checks and occasional servicing will help keep the movement running smoothly.

Automatic Watches

Automatic watches are powered by movement and should be worn regularly to maintain power reserve and lubrication within the movement. If the watch is not worn often, consider using a watch winder or manually winding it occasionally. Automatic watches should also be professionally serviced every few years to maintain accuracy and longevity.

Mechanical Watches

Mechanical hand-wound watches require careful winding and should never be overwound. Wind the crown gently until resistance is felt. These watches are delicate and benefit greatly from routine servicing and careful handling.

Caring for Different Strap Types

Leather Straps

Leather straps should be kept away from excessive moisture, sweat, perfumes and direct sunlight, as these can cause cracking, fading and premature wear. Remove your watch during swimming or intense physical activity, and gently wipe the strap clean with a soft dry cloth after use.

Metal Bracelets

Metal straps are durable but can collect dirt, oils and dust between links. Clean them regularly using a soft cloth and mild soapy water where suitable for the watch’s water resistance. Ensure the bracelet is properly dried afterwards to prevent moisture buildup.

Rubber & Silicone Straps

Rubber and silicone straps are ideal for sports and everyday wear but should still be cleaned regularly to remove sweat, sunscreen and dirt buildup. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, which may weaken or discolour the material over time.

Fabric & Nylon Straps

Fabric straps are comfortable and lightweight but can absorb moisture and dirt easily. Allow them to dry fully after exposure to water and clean them gently to avoid fraying or fading.

General Watch Care Tips

  • Avoid dropping or knocking your watch against hard surfaces.
  • Keep watches away from strong magnets and electronic devices that may affect timekeeping.
  • Have water resistance tested regularly, especially before swimming or diving.
  • Store your watch in a protective box or pouch when not in use.
  • Service your watch periodically to maintain performance and prevent long-term damage.
  • Avoid exposing your watch to harsh chemicals, cleaning products or extreme temperatures.
